  • Q. Tell us about yourself.

I’ve done my B.A. LL.B. from HNLU, Raipur and presently I’m pursuing my LLM in Corporate law. The main subjects of my interest are Criminal Law, Corporate Law and Constitution. Apart from studies and Co-curriculum, I always try to be active in poetry and social service.

  • Q. What is your Thought on this Year’s Question Paper?

It is a good question paper, ideally covering all major subjects and topics alongwith legal awareness. Paper 1, in my opinion, was harder than previous papers and paper 2 was more of an application based paper which in turn diminishes the importance of rote learning in the test. Also as its the first time NTA has conducted the exam, they’ve set a decent benchmark for themself.

OBJECTIVES ON JURISPRUDENCE

  • Q. What is your strategy For Paper I?

Paper-1 isn’t something which can be prepared in a week or two. It’s necessary to give it some time daily. Regular reading alongwith solving practice questions is a good way to tackle the paper. As I have done my schooling with Mathematics as my main subject, I didn’t have to practice it much but I always made sure to include communication, environmental study and higher education in my routine studies. For the paper, I took help of e-learning through Kumar Bharat Education and it helped me alot.

  • Q. According to you, when is the perfect time for a student to start the preparation for UGC-NET?

This time is the perfect time to start with preparation as there’s about 5-6 months time for the next test. Though the syllabus can be covered in 2 to 3 months but it’s always better to start early so that you can cover the whole syllabus properly. Also, the last 15 days before the test can be best utilized in revision rather than reading new things.

UGC-NET LAW HIVE COURSE

  • Q. How did you manage Paper I and Paper II preparation simultaneously?

So, apart from studying regularly I tried to manage the time. I scheduled my routine so as to give due time to both the papers (giving more time for paper 2 of course) and tried to fix and achieve the deadlines on a daily basis. It’s important to study, but arranging the gathered data is crucial for the preparation. One can’t neglect the importance of making notes and reviewing them on a weekly basis, this practice didn’t only helped me in remembering concepts it also inspired me to dedicate more time for studies as seeing my notes always gave me a sense of self-satisfaction. Also, solving MCQs regularly is always helpful in the long run. Summing up my strategy, I’d say managing time, preparing notes and solving questions helped me a lot.

  • Q. How did you prepare Subjects like Jurisprudence & Constitution in Paper II (Mention Book Name You Followed)?

Though reading renowned books always gives you an edge over others but as the test is completely an objective test, one can do away with going through them and still manage to perform well. Following NET reference books (I preferred R. Gupta’s) can be a good step indeed if you already are well versed with the contents of the subject. Though I always refer V. N. Shukla’s and N. V. Paranjpe’s books on Constitution and Jurisprudence respectively, for the basics.

  • Q. What were your approaches for Vast Subjects like International Law and Environmental Law and Human Rights in Paper II (Mention Book Name You Followed)?

Yes, these two subjects are vast and also have good weightage so they can’t be skipped while preparing for the test. As I had lost my touch with both these subjects I firstly read R. Gupta’s for both of them followed by Kapoor’s (for Int law) and Shanthakumar’s (for environmental law). For such vast subjects it’s important to understand what to study and what to skip, for that matter the pattern of previous year question papers should be kept in mind.

NTA-NET LAW STUDY MATERIAL

  • Q. How have you prepared for Other Law Subjects?

So, for all the law subjects I did 3 things. Firstly, understanding pattern and important topics (because the syllabus is so vast that one can’t remember everything that’s in it). Secondly, reading the content from reference book and work of an renowned author on the subject. Thirdly, solving as much MCQs as I can.

  • Q. What are the mistakes One should avoid while preparing for UGC-NET?

I think the biggest mistake one makes is working without strategy. The strategy should be made with due care towards one’s own personal capacity and limitations. Without strategy all the hardwork may go in vain. Chalking out Important topics, allocation of time and executing this at one’s own learning pace are some important things one should consider while making a strategy.

  • Q. Which as per you was the most difficult part of the UGC NET exam? How Did you handle that?

The most difficult part was to decide what to study and what to leave. I had lost my touch to environmental law and International law, and as these 2 subjects have good weightage in the test leaving them wasn’t a good choice. To overcome this difficulty, I prepared these two subjects in the starting and kept them revising throughout.

  • Q. Do you feel that is there any difference in preparation regarding UGC-NET And UGC-NET JRF?

Yes, while preparing for NET one can skip some topics and take the risk but for JRF skipping topics mught prove to be detrimental, considering the quality of question paper and the competition one should cover every important topic while preparing for JRF.

  • Q. Any message or success tip you want to share for UGC-NET aspirants?

It’s impossible for a person to remember everything everytime. The only deciding time in an examination is the time when you are giving the examination. Stay true to yourself and make your exam strategy based on your knowledge and awareness and not what everyone else says about it. If you don’t understand a topic, so be it, attempt it last. Firstly solve what you are confident with. Also being positive for the test, as in taking the test with a positive attitude and mindset is crucial. So always be positive and relaxed while giving examination.
