Because the CLAT test (comprehension-based) is becoming increasingly competitive, you must put up your best effort in order to beat the competition and pass with flying colours. Effective time management is critical to achieving a high score in the entrance exam. It will also assist you in boosting your self-esteem, setting priorities, and reducing stress levels.

We assume that most of you have participated in mock exams and have met several concerns regarding how much time to dedicate to each area, how to set a fixed time for each team, how to complete all of the questions in a certain period, and so on. This post will lead you through the CLAT Time Management Tips, as well as creative solutions to long passage-based problems.

Make a note of weak and strong passages separately The possible areas of comprehension mock can be accessed here

This means that if you believe the paragraph is more difficult or lengthy than normal, set it aside by writing down the passage number and returning to it later. This will aid in time management, and if the passage is easy, do it right away without wasting any time; at the same time, review or rethink the questions of which you are unsure in a particular paragraph; don’t leave it till the last minute. This will save you both time and effort. This will allow you to start with the simpler and more confident section, boosting your chances of scoring higher.

Understanding the passage

Because the question paper contains comprehension-based questions about judgments, make sure to read and understand the material in one sitting. To read judgment-based sections, start by reading the questions at the bottom of the page. This way, you’ll know what to look for in the passage. Make sure to read only the material facts of the case and skip over any unnecessary arguments. Material facts, also known as the ratio decidendi of the judgment are the points that determine the judgment or the principle on which the case is founded. Make a mental note of the legal provisions mentioned in the paragraph this will assist you in answering inquiries about them

Interpretation of the passage

When reading a legal ruling, check to see if any major issues or the court’s findings are addressed in those passages. While reading a passage, you will notice whether there are any concerns or discoveries that are being discussed. Read those attentively and attempt to recall them in coherently your memory.

Reading speed

Practicing previous year’s papers is the greatest strategy to improve time management abilities. Set a timer for yourself as you work on it. Reading newspapers, books, and magazines daily will help you improve your reading abilities. You’ve honed your speed, improved your reading abilities, and encountered a variety of questions. Keep the timer in front of you and strive to complete as many mocks as possible in less time than you spent on a prior mock. Try to read as many recent decisions as you can from legal sources such as Indian Express, SCC Online, and Bar & Bench. By, doing this, it may happen that when the passage comes you might know from which judgment the excerpt has been taken and this will save your time. Topics like CPC and Arbitration are not a part of the syllabus, hence you can skip them, and Constitutional law is a major portion to cover.

Direct questions

Apart from the given decisions in the passages, there may be some direct questions linked to the judgments, but those judgments are precedents involving the same issues or legal facts, therefore while reading recent judgments, make sure to read the ratio alone of all the prior judgments relevant to the recent judgment. This will allow you to attempt straight questions given in the exam in a matter of seconds, saving you time.

Tackling difficult questions

If you think the question is too difficult or time-consuming, go on to the next one. Return to the questions or challenging parts you left at the end. This method will save you time and effort since you will be able to do more questions that are simpler and secure excellent grades rather than attempting and wasting time on harder ones.

Don’t let go of the theory part

So, if we look at the CLAT PG syllabus apart from the recent legal judgments there is also the inclusion of substantive parts of law like Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, IPC, etc. So, apart from mugging the judgments please do your homework and hard work smartly and also include studying the basic portion of law because you never know your luck it might happen that some of the passages only include the theoretical part of the law and not the judgment so if you are well versed with these things you might end up doing those paragraphs in less time than usual. And last, but not least for any competitive exam hard work is the key, so keep yourself updated.
