conduct legal research on various topics related to securities laws, market
misconduct, investor protection, and other relevant areas. This research will
assist in developing policies and guidelines for SEBI’s regulatory framework.
Enforcement actions and litigation: You
may be involved in initiating enforcement actions against individuals or
entities that violate securities laws. This includes preparing legal briefs,
representing SEBI in legal proceedings, and coordinating with external legal
counsel.
Providing legal advice and opinions: You
will offer legal advice and opinions to SEBI officials on matters pertaining to
securities regulations, corporate governance, insider trading, and other legal
issues.
Eligibility
Criteria
To apply for the SEBI Officer Grade A
(Assistant Manager) Legal Stream position, you typically need to meet the
following eligibility criteria:
1. Educational Qualification-
A candidate should must hold the Bachelor’s
Degree in Law from a recognized University /Institute.
Note 1- Candidates who have appeared for the final examinations, as on the
last date of filling online application form and waiting for the results of the
requisite educational qualification, are eligible to appear for the Phase I,
Phase II and Phase III of selection process. However, the offer to join SEBI to
the selected candidates shall be subject to production of necessary documents
evidencing successfully obtaining the requisite qualification.
Note 2- The date of passing eligibility examination will be the date
appearing on the mark sheet or provisional certificate issued by the
University/ Institute. In case the result of a particular examination is posted
on the website of the University/ Institute, a certificate issued by the
appropriate authority of the University/ Institute indicating the date on which
the result was posted on the website will be taken as the date of passing.
2.Desirable Criteria
Candidates may hold two years post qualification experience as an
Advocate (including as an associate in an Advocate’s or Solicitor’s Office or
Law firm) after being enrolled under the Advocates Act, 1961 (25 of 1961) shall
be a desirable qualification.
3. Age Criteria

Selection Procedure consist mainly three phases.
a. Phase I : Online Exam
b. Phase II : Online Exam
c. Phase III : Interview
a. Phase I : Online Examination
Phase I online examination consists two objective type paper with
100 Multiple Choice Question each. Paper 1 will test the knowledge of General
Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Test of Reasoning. Paper
2 will consist of multiple choice questions (MCQs) based on the specialized
subject.

will be 85%, while marks obtained in interview shall be given a weightage of
15%. However, due weightage up to a maximum of 1.5 marks (i.e. 10% of 15) will
be given to candidates with relevant post qualification experience as mentioned
above.
Pay Scale, Allowances and other Facilities
Remuneration-The pay scale of officers
in Grade A is ₹
44500-2500(4)-54500-2850(7)-74450-EB-2850(4)-85850-3300(1)-89150 (17 years).
Presently, the gross emolument including SEBI’s Contribution towards
National Pension Scheme (NPS),Grade Allowance, Special Allowance, Dearness
Allowance, Family Allowance, Local Allowance, Learning Allowance, SpecialGrade
Allowance, Special Compensatory Allowance, etc. at Mumbai at the minimum of
this scale is approx. ₹1,49,500/- p.m. without accommodation and ₹1,11,000/-
p.m. with accommodation.
Benefits-Other benefits viz., Leave Fare
Concession, Medical Expenses, Eye Refraction, Education Allowance, Financial
Dailies, Book Grant, Briefcase, Conveyance Expenses, House Cleaning Allowance,
Staff Furnishing Scheme, Scheme for Purchasing Computers, Subsidized Lunch
Facility and all other benefits as admissible to an Officer in Grade A in SEBI.
Accommodation- Residential accommodation
would be provided subject to availability.
Posting-The incumbent may be posted and
transferred to any location in India where SEBI has its Offices. The recruited
officers may be posted to any department of SEBI.
Probation-The successful candidates
recruited for the post of Officer Grade ‘A’ shall undergo probation of two
